Labeling Tips

Select Your Bottle

Our wine labels work best with a straight-sided bottle that doesn’t bulge out in any way. Choose a wine bottle with a body that is the same width from top to bottom.

Our champagne labels work best with a bottle with straighter sides at the base. Choose a champagne bottle with less curvy sides to avoid wrinkles.

Remove Original Label

You will need: We find a 9”x12” baking pan works perfectly for one or two bottles, to remove just the front label. One bottle can put in diagonally so it won’t roll, or two side-by-side. Otherwise, a sink or bucket, plus baking soda & sponge or rag.

Optional: Heavy duty scrub sponge or steel wool.

1. We like to leave the back label on. Soak the front label portion of bottle in cool or room temperature water with 5-10 tablespoons of baking soda for 30 minutes.

2. Remove the bottle from the water, peel the label. Rub any additional glue or residue off with the scrub sponge or steel wool. For stubborn adhesive, soak an additional 30+ minutes.

Remember, COOL water only, warm or hot could ruin your wine!

3. When the bottle is clean, let it fully dry before applying your new label.

Apply New Label

1. Make sure the bottle is completely dry.

2. Lay the bottle down on a flat surface or on your lap.

3. With clean, dry hands, slowly peel the label from the backing.

4. Hold label over the bottle to center, apply from the middle outward. First run your finger down the center of the bottle, smooth out one side then the other. Gently smooth out any bubbles.

Reposition Label

Is it a little crooked? You can peel it off and start again! To reposition your label, use a razor blade or knife to very carefully pull up the edge of the label, then SLOWLY peel it off and apply again.

Note: All of our labels are waterproof, you may put on ice!
